In California’s Animal Friends of the Valleys Shelter, amidst wagging tails and hopeful eyes, there lived a sweet retriever mix named Oso. Oso was friendly, affectionate, and adorable — but he was so possessive over toys that two different owners had returned him to the shelter! The poor pupper’s mournful expression, drooping tail, and restless pacing showed that he had given up on ever finding a home. 

Fortunately, Furbo for Good and its newest partner, rescue pet advocate Rocky Kanaka, saw how special Oso was, and decided to write a wonderful new chapter for him. They arranged and funded intensive training and rehabilitation to clear up Oso’s behavioral issues. Plus, they built a shady oasis outside the shelter, so that Oso and his furry friends could comfortably enjoy the sunny California weather while they waited for their new families to find them.

Thanks to Furbo for Good and Rocky Kanaka, Oso was finally ready for the next step. One day, a wonderful family showed up at the shelter to meet him — with Scarlett, a playful Beauceron mix, in tow! Oso fell in love with his new pawrents and sister right away. Now, he’s happy, thriving, and successfully sharing his toys in his FURever home.
